Born in the Heart
Some connections don’t occur with first breath beginnings preceded by months of from the inside out, get to know me kicks and nudges. Some mother-child introductions come by way of love that arrives with ready-made, ready-or-not, be my mother duties. Some mothers welcome their new child across awkward advances and unsteady steps without an instantaneous, delivery room bond that, somehow, makes the most important and most difficult job in the world a second nature, for-a-lifetime commitment. Yet, the miracle of this mother-child bond is no less profound, no less enduring. It’s one of the truest examples of how boundless the gift of love can be and how two lives brought together by, what some may consider, divine intervention or, others, a mere twist of fate can entwine with each measured moment, filling spaces with unexpected joy and blessings more bountiful than the mind might ever imagined. You and I, not born one to the other but delivered to each other from the wise and wonderful hands of the heavens. This love, born in the heart, is as miraculous as that shared by any mother and child, love that has shaped and defined me, and is cherished with an incomparable gratitude for the gift I have in you.
